PCI Security Standards Council Updates Payment Device Standard to Support Software-based PIN Entry on COTS
Today the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) published PCI PIN Transaction Security (PTS) Point of Interaction (POI) Modular Security Requirements version 5.1. The updated device standard supports the development of PCI Software-based PIN Entry on COTS (SPoC) Solutions for merchants that enable EMV contact and contactless transactions with PIN entry on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices, such as tablets and smartphones.

PCI Security Standards Council Publishes Security Requirements for Software-Based PIN Entry on COTS Devices
Today the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) announced a new PCI Security Standard for software-based PIN entry on commercial off-the-shelf devices (COTS), such as smartphones and tablets. The PCI Software-Based PIN Entry on COTS (SPoC) Standard provides requirements for developing secure solutions that enable EMV contact and contactless transactions with PIN entry on the merchant’s consumer device using a secure PIN entry application in combination with a Secure Card Reader for PIN (SCRP).

PCI Security Standards Council Announces First Regional Engagement Board
Today the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) announced the first PCI SSC Regional Engagement Board. The Regional Engagement Board (REB) will represent the perspectives of PCI SSC Participating Organizations and constituents in Brazil, providing feedback and guidance to the PCI SSC on payment security standards, program development and adoption in the region.

PCI Associate Qualified Security Assessor Program Opens for Applications
As cybercriminals continue to target payment data, cybersecurity skills are critically important to the payment card industry. Today the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) announced it is now accepting applications for the new Associate Qualified Security Assessor (AQSA) Program, an initiative aimed at attracting cybersecurity talent to the payment card industry to ensure the sustainability and quality of QSA services for merchants and service providers.
