PCI Council Convenes European Payment Card Industry Leaders on Global Payment Security
More than 600 payment security practitioners from Europe and around the world convened this week in London for the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) Europe Community Meeting. The event focused on developments in PCI Standards and programs and provided industry stakeholders opportunities to learn, share and discuss the current state and future of payment security.

PCI Launches Payment Security Tool to Help Small Merchants
Small merchants continue to be a primary target for cybercriminals. According to the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, 61% of breached organizations surveyed were small businesses. These highly-targeted businesses often do not have the technical knowledge needed to effectively manage security against these attacks- which is why today the PCI Security Standards Council is announcing the launch of updated educational resources and a new tool aimed at helping small business owners protect their customer's payment card data.

Today the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) published PCI PIN Security Requirements and Testing Procedures version 3.0, the PCI Security Standard for the secure management, processing and transmission of PIN data at ATMs and attended and unattended point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

PCI Security Standards Council Announces New Timetable for Board of Advisors Nomination and Election Process
The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) announced today a new timetable for the PCI SSC Board of Advisors nomination and election process. The change is designed to provide more visibility and awareness of this participation opportunity with PCI SSC stakeholders and to accommodate more face-to-face engagement with the Board of Advisors. The nomination period for the 2019-2020 Board of Advisors will open on 17 September and run through 23 October 2018.

Meeting with acquirers and payment technology leaders this week at the TRANSACT conference, the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) announced new PCI SSC Cloud Computing Guidelines. Developed in collaboration with more than 100 global organizations representing banks, merchants, security assessors and technology vendors, the guidance identifies and addresses security challenges for different cloud architectures and models to help companies understand security considerations when implementing these solutions.

PCI Security Standards Council Updates Payment Device Standard to Support Software-based PIN Entry on COTS
Today the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) published PCI PIN Transaction Security (PTS) Point of Interaction (POI) Modular Security Requirements version 5.1. The updated device standard supports the development of PCI Software-based PIN Entry on COTS (SPoC) Solutions for merchants that enable EMV contact and contactless transactions with PIN entry on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices, such as tablets and smartphones.
